Varanasi Ghats Canvas Print captures early morning on the Ganges, as soft sunrise light washes over the sandstone temples, towers and riverside palaces that rise above the stepped ghats. Saffron flags fly from the rooftops, wide umbrellas shade the bathing steps, and a line of wooden rowboats rests at the water's edge while boatmen glide across the calm river. The buildings and boats are mirrored in long, shimmering reflections that fade toward a hazy horizon. The composition radiates peaceful devotion in peach, apricot gold, warm sandstone, soft lavender blue, terracotta and dusky rose tones, painted in a luminous, realistic oil-painting style.
